Travel Hotel In Jakarta – On my last trip to Indonesia, I had the opportunity to stay at Shangri-La Jakarta for 7 nights. Our company held a multi-day event at Shangri-La and my colleagues and I stayed at Shangri-La for a week. I expected good service from Shangri-La, but I was completely blown away by the service I received. Everyone in Jakarta likes to smile and Shangri-La is no exception.

Everyone: the bellmen, the waiters, the cooks, the reception, the management… everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. Like everywhere else in Jakarta, security is tight on the site. Taxis are easy to get with Silver Bird Taxis almost always waiting in front. Security at the hotel is top-notch, and as with most major buildings in Jakarta, you are expected to be checked at all entrances, hallways, or lobbies. The hotel has all amenities and comfortable rooms. You can get half a point for the slightly dated room decor, but it honestly didn’t matter to me. The styling is still classy and very comfortable. I hear they are renovating a lot of their rooms.

For you junkies, this property participates in the Shangri-La Golden Circle loyalty program. The location of the hotel is slightly away from the main roads, but still very close to all the attractions in central Jakarta. Traffic in this city is horrendous, so always plan to allow extra time to get anywhere. Fridays are the worst, especially during the afternoon-evening rush!

With my amazing view of the city every morning, fresh breakfast at Satoo and well managed places at Rosso, every day started with a great experience. I only ate at the two restaurants on site which included Satu and Rosso. Both the food and service at each were fantastic. The variety at the buffet at Satoo was incredible! I recommend Shangri-La for a number of reasons. The service is number one in my book and I hope to return to Jakarta, just to stay here again!
